ENJOYING ELEMENTARY YOGA IN FRANCE 2018
You may think that yoga involves tying yourselves into unusual combinations of the Gordian knot or contorting yourself like Harry Houdini into positions that only he could get out of but in fact it is much simpler than this. This is a holiday not a test. You only need to bend what you can bend. There is so much more to yoga than just bending! You will find it relaxing, refreshing, fulfilling and envigorating gentle exercise!
Simple morning introductory yoga sessions with our Swami Vedantananda Saraswati will be blended with simple crafted healthy food from our chef Bernard Philippe and then optional gentle afternoon walks means this is a week where you will feel that you are on a new path to a new you. It can help loosen up your body, reduce stress, calm the mind and get yourself back on form.

HOW THE IDEA STARTED
In January, I flew to Portugal to meet with Swami Vedanta and spend two weeks learning with a group the rudimentary techniques of yoga. This involved exercises of stretching, lying down, breathing and meditation. We found that Vedanta has a very soothing, calming technique that allows you to do the best you can and not force you or crack the whip. If you cannot bend you cannot bend so you adapt to a posture that suits you. We found that a welcome relief. Sometimes it was just the tiniest bend! This seemed very appropriate for The Walking Party so we are now trying to fit it into our curriculum. It makes every bit of sense as I know there are some of you who would feel so good doing this. And do not worry if you feel all cranked up and unable to move anything. That is precisely the reason why you should come and try. There is no better way as a means of introduction.

HOW IT WORKS
- Every morning will start with a light breakfast followed by a two hour yoga session
learning the rudimentary principles involving easy positionings, breathing and
awareness. Do not worry if you cannot touch your toes! There is never a problem! The idea is that you will understand how yoga works by the end of the week. This is
just an introduction and I know that you will be feeling better for it!
- Lunch will be light healthy and fulfilling.
- In the afternoon there will be cultural visits or gentle walking.
- Dinner will be classic Bernard Philippe cuisine accompanied by delicious wine.
